The Ripple USD stablecoin (RLUSD) continues to expand its presence, reaching over 190 countries through the TrustLinq platform. This Swiss financial organization becomes another link in the chain, extending RLUSD's payment reach to more than 80 currencies and opening new avenues for cross-border transfers beyond cryptocurrency trading. Despite this expansion, geographic coverage alone does not guarantee significant adoption of the stablecoin. Actual usage depends on available payment corridors, banking service methods, transaction costs, and settlement success. Therefore, the growing number of completed transfers and payment frequency will be significant indicators of demand. Sustained growth in transaction volumes could strengthen RLUSD's practical utility and increase activity within the Ripple ecosystem.
However, the potential to gain XRP from this partnership depends on whether growth leads to measurable demand for the token itself. While institutional funding for RLUSD continues to grow, questions arise about Ripple's increasing significance in the overall cryptocurrency market. Discussions around the stablecoin have intensified following the launch of custody services by Standard Chartered, and Ripple's participation in OKX's funding round adds another institutional connection, with the company's preliminary valuation at $25 billion. RLUSD's market capitalization currently exceeds $2.5 billion, but this expansion is due to an increase in circulating supply rather than price growth. XRP does not guarantee benefits from the stablecoin's expansion, and its long-term success depends on usage on the XRP Ledger, liquidity levels, and whether institutions will continue to use it.
The potentially increasing use of RLUSD raises the question of how much value actually reaches XRP. Each transaction on the Ledger burns a small amount of XRP, but fees remain too low to create significant buying pressure. Despite growing institutional adoption, the token does not show noticeable changes in price action. Currently, XRP is trading at $1.38, which is 16% below the September high. Meanwhile, the XRP Ledger processes about 2.6 million transactions per day, but this does not require institutions to hold large reserves of XRP. Exchange data also provides an additional signal. According to CryptoQuant, Binance reserves have decreased to approximately $2.6 billion in recent weeks. Thus, these conflicting trends make it difficult to assess future demand. Ultimately, the growing use of RLUSD will be more significant for XRP if accompanied by a sharp increase in spot market demand, tighter supply conditions on exchanges, and deeper market liquidity.
