The Shiba Inu community is trying to attract Elon Musk's attention after an alleged token misidentification on X: under the BONE cashtag in old posts, the wrong asset is reportedly displayed.
As long-time SHIB community member Mazrael explained, X shows the wrong token for BONE in old posts for unknown reasons. According to him, the Smart Cashtag preview for BONE on X displays an incorrect token – an unrelated contract and mismatched data. On X, smart cashtags display real-time prices, charts, and a selection of posts when a user clicks on or searches for a cryptocurrency ticker.
Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) is the gas token of the Shibarium network. The real BONE operates on the Ethereum network and trades at $0.054; Mazrael provided the correct contract address: 0x9813037ee2218799597d83d4a5b6f3b6778218d9. The unrelated token also uses the BONE ticker and trades significantly lower at $0.0000000427.
Due to this, Mazrael warned users: do not rely solely on the ticker displayed on the social network, check the contract. "Not what is displayed in the cashtag. Check the contract," he wrote.
The discrepancy prompted calls for X to review the BONE cashtag display. Mazrael tagged X owner Elon Musk, Grok, X Developers, X Business, as well as TradingView, Gemini, Coinbase, and Kraken. He also posted a screenshot confirming that his appeal was received and work on the fix is underway.
At the time of publication, SHIB was trading up 1.51% over the last 24 hours at $0.000005. Traders are awaiting new economic data, including the Fed's rate decision at the meeting on October 27-28, 2026, amid ongoing inflation concerns.
